Rs 2,500 Payment: Two Options (Cash Plus FD, or Full FD)
The scheme gives beneficiaries a choice in how they receive the money:
Option 1 (Cash plus FD): Rs. 1,000 is transferred directly to the beneficiary woman’s bank account, while the remaining Rs 1,500 is invested by the government in a fixed deposit (FD).
Option 2 (Full FD): Beneficiaries can instead choose to have the entire Rs. 2,500 invested in a fixed deposit.
Whichever option is chosen, the FD carries a 3-year lock-in period, and the state government provides a sovereign guarantee on it, meaning the invested amount is backed by the government itself.
